The Nevis Humane Society – Friends of the ARK
The Nevis Humane Society is a group of individuals who believe in the importance of the protection and welfare of all animals. The Society raises funds to provide assistance to injured, abandoned, orphaned and sick animals, and provides monies for an ongoing island wide spay and neuter program.The goals of the Humane Society include ending the suffering of unwanted animals by subsidizing a spay and neuter program to stop unwanted births and reduce both poisoning and drowning of these unwanted animals; provide medical care to animals whose owners cannot afford it; provide temporary shelter and food to unwanted or stray animals until they can be adopted out or euthanised; inform the public about diseases and medical conditions that can effect themselves and /or their animals; and to continue to educate the general public, especially children, as to the proper care of animals.
